Tile Adhesives

Many friends may use cement to lay tiles at home, and it is particularly easy for us to think that a large piece of dry cement is left behind after the tiles fall off. In fact, cement is not suitable for the installation of ceramic tiles, cement bonded tiles are particularly prone to empty drums, falling off the phenomenon. So what is the best glue to stick the tile? A good alternative to cement is tile glue, which contains environmentally friendly adhesives such as redispersible emulsion powder and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose. Here is how to use tile glue.

What is the best glue to stick tile with? What are the categories?

Ceramic tile adhesives are generally divided into ordinary type (neutral redispersible emulsion powder), strong type (containing adhesive redispersible emulsion powder) and strong type (containing flexible redispersible emulsion powder). Among them, ordinary tile glue is generally used for bonding a variety of floor tiles or small wall tiles on ordinary mortar surface; Strong type tile glue has a stronger adhesive force than ordinary glue, which adds hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, redispersible emulsion powder, hydroxypropyl starch ether, and has the ability to prevent falling, suitable for wall tiles, wood panels and other wall tiles with relatively large adhesive force requirements; Strong type tile adhesive flexibility is excellent, the adhesive force is very large, more than the strong type, can effectively prevent the damage caused by thermal expansion and contraction of the tile, usually used for fiber board, gypsum board, plywood or old finish bond.

The basic role of redispersible emulsion powder in tile glue:

1. Redispersible emulsion powder improves the compressive strength and flexural strength of tile glue.

2. The dispersible emulsion powder can be dispersed to form a film and play a strengthening role as a second adhesive;

3. Protect the colloid from being absorbed by the mortar system (it will not be destroyed by water after film formation, or “secondary dispersion”);

4. The film-forming polymer resin is distributed in the entire mortar system as a reinforcing material, thereby increasing the cohesion of the mortar;

5. The addition of redispersible emulsion powder improves the elongation of mortar, thus improving the impact toughness of mortar, and also gives mortar a good stress dispersion effect.

6. Redispersible emulsion powder reduces the elastic modulus of mortar, improves deformation ability and reduces cracking phenomenon.

7. Redispersible emulsion powder improves the bonding properties of tile glue. The bonding mechanism depends on the adsorption and diffusion of macromolecules on the sticky surface, while the rubber powder has a certain permeability, and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose ether

8. Together, the surface of the base material is fully infiltrated, so that the surface performance of the base is close to that of the new plaster, thus improving the adsorption and greatly increasing its performance.

9.Redispersible emulsion powder improves the wear resistance of mortar. The improvement of wear resistance is mainly due to the presence of a certain amount of rubber bent on the surface of the mortar. The adhesive powder plays a bonding role, and the retinal structure formed by the adhesive powder can pass through the holes and cracks in the cement mortar, improving the bond between the base material and the cement hydration product, thus improving the wear resistance.

10.Redispersible emulsion powder gives ceramic tile glue excellent alkaline resistance

Use of ceramic tile glue: Use ceramic tile glue to glue the floor tile

The first step: wet the construction wall and the ground, the inside of the wall and the ground must be kept dry, the surface of the wall and the ground should be kept flat, and the uneven or rough surface can be smoothed with cement mortar;

The second step: remove the stains such as floating ash and oil at the base, otherwise it will affect the adhesion of the tile glue;

Step 3: Adjust the adhesive, water ash ratio is about 1:4, stir evenly. The binder should be used up within 5 to 6 hours (the temperature is relatively high, and the light should be used up in a shorter time);

Step 4: Apply the mixed adhesive to the back of the tile to be laid, press hard until the tile surface is flat, and the tile laid within 15 minutes can be corrected by moving.

Conclusion: Due to the addition of redispersible latex powder and other bonding materials, the adhesive force between the tile and the base surface is several times that of the cement, it can effectively avoid dropping the brick. Increase the service life and engineering quality of ceramic tiles.
